Videos and pictures from Immokalee race - 4-20-2008

What can you say about the track down in Immokalee Florida? It is the most physically and mentally demanding track that I have ridden and it doesn't get any easier the more times I go. My arms get worn out quickly and the track is so tight that you don't get a lot of time to relax - you are always starting a new turn. But the track was kind to me this weekend - I didn't crash and I pulled a 2nd place finish (yeah!) To be fair, Derek and Al had bike issues, but that's racing.

Lots of Diggie showing me a fast way around the track, and later Derek, Al, and Steve go past but don't stay close enough to divulge and speed secrets.

[Heat 2]
Nice opening footage of the pre-grid covered area. That structure is a blessing in the heat! Derek and Steve jump out front and are never seen again. Good shots of Oscar and Ricky for a while, and then a lot of open road in front of me with a few glimpses of the Z&T race team. I think I'm doing fairly well holding a 3rd until Diggie blasts past me with only 4 turns left to the checkered!

[Main race]
I've got helmet cam and 3rd person (Jeremy) views of the Main Race. This race was awesome for me - I was up front with Al and Steve holding my own for a few laps (Derek had a bike issue on the first lap, and then Al has bike problems a little later). There I am with Steve, but he finally kicks it in gear and sets a good gap. Father/son team Darrell and Diggie then begin putting some serious pressure on me with some close passes (awesome battle Darrell)! The video Jeremy shot is great and shows the action at the front while not neglecting any of the other riders (I think every one is shown) - Awesome job, Jeremy!
